For every book you donate you will receive 1 ticket.  Each ticket can be used to “buy” a book. The more books donated, the more choices there will be.  Please bring in your books April 16 -23^rd.  Book Swap will be Friday, April 27^th.  We really need high school level books.

Mariners March 5K

Mary Immaculate Star of the Sea School presents it’s 2nd annual
Mariners March 5K Walk/Run on Saturday April 28, 2012.
Please help us put on this great event to support our school and physical fitness in our youth and community.
Below are ways you can help.

Platinum Sponsor: $500. Name and logo of organization on race t-shirt, your name or logo on one of the 5K markers along the course, and 4 free entrances in the race.

Gold Sponsor: $300. Name of business or organization on race t-shirt, and 2 free entrances in the race.

Silver Sponsor: $100. Name of business or organization on race t-shirt.

Donations: Food, raffle, money, or service. Recognition at event.

Volunteers: We need lots of help on race day. Free volunteer t-shirt

NO SCHOOL     

Friday, April 6^th               Good Friday

YEARBOOK SALE     

There are only 100 yearbooks ordered.  There are only 12 left. If you wish to purchase a yearbook, stop in the office to pay on Wednesday.

Thank You Ms. Monica and Ms. Jones for heading up the Yearbook task!

PIZZA ORDER

No hot lunch on Thursday this week. The cafeteria will be closed. 

Pizza is available but most be ordered on Wednesday.  Remember to send a lunch if you do not order pizza.

TUITION

Tuition is past due for April.  Please, if you are behind in tuition payments, stop by the office and see Ms. Kelly. We depend on every family meeting their financial obligation.

CAFETERIA

The cafeteria crew can always use help.  Sign up in the office.  If you can even stop by for only an hour, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday, it would be appreciated.  Thank you!

CONFIRMATION

Congratulations to our 8^th Grade Confirmation Class!

Thursday – March 1 – The Basilica of St. Mary Star of the Sea – 7:00 p.m.

RED MASS

Archbishop Wenski will preside at the Red Mass, Friday, March 2^nd, at 12:00 noon.

Students in Grades 5 – 8 will attend. The Red Mass honors those who serve in the legal system.

There will be no 8:15 a.m. Mass on Friday, March 2^nd.

STANDARDIZED TESTING – GRADE 2 – 8

Please make sure your child does not miss school from March 5 through March 15.

Students in grades 2 – 8 will be taking the IOWA Tests.  They are important assessment tools.

Children need to get lots of rest, eat healthy and be on time!

SPRING BREAK

Spring Break begins on Friday, March 16^th, at 1:00 p.m.  There will be no After Care available.

School resumes on Monday, March 26^th.

REGISTRATION FOR 2012-2013

If you have not turned in your registration for the 2012-2013 school year, PLEASE do so.

It is hard to order textbooks, hire teachers and staff and make plans without knowing the number of students.  We hope to see everyone back, however, if your child is not planning to return, please let Ms. Cindy know.

FISH DINNER ON FRIDAY BY THE KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS – Season of Lent

All profits benefit Mary Immaculate.  Each week one or two classes sign up to supply baked goods and help with the dinner. Thank you to the classes who have already done their weeks. This week is Grade 3 and Grade 6.  The dinner is from 5:00 p.m. to 8 p.m.

TUITION ASSISTANCE MEETINGS FOR THE 2012-2013 SCHOOL YEAR

Just a reminder, all students at Mary Immaculate Star of the Sea School receive Financial Aid. The cost of educating each child this year was around $7,500.00.  The difference in tuition charged and the cost of educating each child is made up through generous donations, support from our parish and community, and extraordinary fund-raising efforts by YOU and YOUR FAMILIES.  Thank you!

Meetings take only 10 minutes. Bring your W-2 forms to the appointment. Call 294-1031 to schedule a meeting.

AUDITIONS FOR ROBIN HOOD ARE TODAY, FEBRUARY 28^TH AT 4:00 PM FOR GRADES 1-5 AND ON THURSDAY, MARCH 1^ST AT 4:00 PMN FOR GRADES 1-8 AT GERALD ADAMS MUSIC ROOM.

Mary Immaculate Star of the Sea Catholic School is on to something GOOD and it is only going to get better. 

• Through a generous grant, students in Grades K – 8 will have individual iPads next year.
• Mary Immaculate students excel as leaders in our community!
•  Out of the 14 students who graduated from Mary Immaculate’s  8^th grade four years ago, 37% are in the top 10% of the current graduating class at Key West High School.
